Candida (AKA "Angie", sister of Enma)
Kidnapped from family in Jalapa, Guatemala
US Agency: Adoption Blessings Worldwide
Guatemalan facilitator: "Teo" (AKA Thanasis Kolias, Athanasios Kollias)
UPDATE: We have conflicting information about the Guatemalan facilitator. We have recieved information that Carla Giron was the attorney, and Alejandra Ortiz was the facilitator. It should be noted, however, that Teo is named in a directorial role in many problematic cases, working behind the attorney and facilitator, often invisibly.

Esther Sulamita
Stolen from her mother Ana Escobar in Guatemala City, March 27, 2007
Alleged US Agency: Homecoming Adoptions, owned by Robert Kuschel and Florida attorneys Rigdon and Alexander
Alleged Guatemalan facilitator: Teo
Ana was working in a shoe store when armed men came in, locked her in a closet and stole her then 6 month old daughter Esther. Ana searched for 14 months, and finally found her daughter in a governmental office. Esther was weeks away from being placed with an unsuspecting family in Indiana.
Esther's case is the first indisputable case of kidnapping where the child "passed" the USCIS DNA test.

Amount of time Ana spent without her daughter: 14 months

Ana Christina and Maria Fernanda
found and reunited with their mother Mildred Alvarado in Guatemala City

Date: August, 2006
Alleged US Agency: Celebrate Children International, Director Sue Hedberg
Guatemalan facilitator: Marvin Bran
Prospective adoptive mother recognized Mildred's name in the Prensa Libre when the paper did a story on mothers trying to locate their stolen children. Mildred's name matched the name of her referred child's biological mother. The PAP contacted the Prensa Libre and they in turn contacted Norma Cruz and The Survivor's Foundation. Communication was then set up via telephone between the PAP and Mildred via an interpreter from a human rights group.
Through email, pictures of Mildred's daughter were shared, images of a daughter she hadn't even seen yet. Legal documents helped gain access to hogars, and the two missing girls were located. A judge returned the girls to Mildred in February 2008.
DNA Testing:
Guatemalan doctor/sample packager: L. Aida Gutierrez C.
Amount of time Mildred spent without her children: 18 months

REWARD OF Q40,000 PLEASE CALL (502) 2413-8888 EXT 2226
ABOVE: photo identified by mother Olga Lopez as her daughter
Fraudulent Place of Birth: Iztapa, Escuintla, Guatemala
Because the child was only one month old at time of kidnapping, it is difficult to identify the child in photographs, and case documents must be used in addition to recognition. Mother Olga Lopez has identified several of cases with accompanying photos that could be her daughter. However, it is believed this child has now been positively identified and is living in Illinois with adoptive parents.
